What makes a house a home? For some, it’s having a living room with enough seating for the whole family at Christmas. For others, it’s having fluffy colorful pillows on a comfortable sofa. Perhaps for you, it’s preserving beautiful family photos in shiny new frames hung in a gallery display. For parents of little ones, it’s having pretty draperies that shade the sun in the organized chaos of a child’s bedroom. For almost all of us, it’s having a home that you feel comfortable in, that you enjoy spending time in, and that brings you joy in the beautiful details.
It’s not about having a magazine-worthy, picture-perfect home. You’d be surprised at the truth behind the scenes of those seemingly perfect photo spreads in decor mags. The hours of work stylists spend hiding the homeowner’s personal belongings and replacing with just the right vase or accessory, that’s the truth. The piles of junk in the room right behind the camera. That isn’t real life! Instead, a design that reflects your story, that accentuates the antique hutch from great great grandma, or incorporates the hand-me-down dresser from years long past with a dreamy new bed, this is what brings your home alive. This, along with designer touches, will create a home you’ll be proud to call your own.
This bedroom morphed from a forgotten beige spare room housing mismatching furniture and storage boxes, into a welcoming guest bedroom for a client anxious to offer visiting family and friends a relaxing retreat. We transformed the space using a cool and calm blue paint, new furniture in a mix of white and gray-stained wood, West Elm curtains, luxurious bed linens, and pops of color in accessories. This project was so much fun from start to finish. There is nothing like seeing your house become a home, even starting with the long-forgotten spare bedroom!
